Russia’s Sberbank Debuts AI Humanoid ’Green’ During Putin Tech Forum
Russian President Vladimir Putin encountered an unexpected greeter at Moscow's AI Journey conference this week - a domestically developed humanoid robot named Green. The android, created by engineers at state-owned Sberbank, represents Russia's push for technological sovereignty amid global sanctions.
The bipedal machine demonstrated fluid movement and conversational AI capabilities during its interaction with Putin, marking a symbolic milestone for Russia's ambitions in artificial intelligence. "I am the first Russian humanoid robot with embedded artificial intelligence," Green declared in fluent Russian during the exhibition showcasing national tech achievements.
The demonstration comes as Moscow accelerates development of homegrown technologies, particularly in AI and robotics. While Western sanctions have constrained Russia's access to advanced semiconductors, the Green prototype suggests progress in mechatronics and natural language processing - sectors with potential crossover applications for blockchain verification and automated trading systems.
